Rollerblading was the chosen activity for this weekend and it was terrifying. For someone who isn't very co-ordinated to begin with, put me in shoes with wheels and less stability and it is not going to end well.
We drove for about half an hour to a place just after the city called Mission Bay. There is a place you can hire roller-skates, kayaks and tandem bikes so we all hired skates for an hour and off we went. We all opted for the knee and wrist guards because none of us had a lot of confidence in our skating ability, some rightly so and others not. Right from the get go we were spilt into two groups, good at skating and not good at skating. I was in the not good group. Within the first ten minutes I had fallen down and grazed my bum.
I used to skate when I was younger and less scared of pain and, I think, I was quite good. That has definitely changed. I was so scared of falling the whole time and any slight off balance made me screech (yes, I was the annoying screaming girl). I got a hang of it eventually and could go a decent pace but never went to fast due to the fact I had no clue how to stop. Danielle and Daisy however, had no issue with skating. At one point I looked up and the were rein-acting the titanic scene where they are at the very front (or back?) of the ship.
It was a very nice little outing, despite the terror it brought me and an hour was definately enough time for it. We contemplated doing two hours when we hired them but, luckily, chose against that. I don't think i'll be rollerskating again any time soon and hope to keep my feet firmily on the ground when ever i'm on my two legs.
Ellie xoxo
