MONOCHROME MADNESS

So recently, I found this awesome white fabric at my local hospice shop for $4.  Its quite a stiff white fabric with a slightly furry feel, kind of suede like.

I've been wanting an asymmetrically hemmed skirt for quite some time now and this fabric was perfect. Due to the type of fabric, it doesn't need hemming, which was exactly what I needed for the rounded edge of this skirt. This skirt is one of the more structured pieces that I have made and it put in a lot of effort for the finishing, as i wanted it to be very clean cut.
To make this I used a pattern that i made to fit me perfectly last year, and then, once I had sewn it all up, I cut the hem. The first time I cut it I did it wrong so I ended up having to re-do the whole back, but it was definitely worth it!

Once I figured out how to get the hem right it was very easy to do and you can cut both sides at the same time to get the exact same shape on both sides.

The top i'm wearing was a t-shirt but I cute the sleeves off. This is a style i'm loving at the moment, however it requires a strapless bra which I am not the biggest fan of! It's worth it though. I am also really in to monochrome at the moment and although I love wearing colour, I think there is something very sophisticated and asethetically pleasing about black and white. Due to the lack of colour in the outfit, it then amplifies the effect of lipstick and adds a subtle pop of colour to the outfit.

Hope you are all enjoying your christmas break!
Ellie xoxo
